I do most of my writing just before the dawn; in that small sliver of each day that is truly quiet. I enjoy life the most during that brief interlude between the internet demons settled into their slumber and the human demons yet to wake. I’m grateful to have the moment of reflection to write and send (hopefully) interesting things your way a few times a week.
This week is a busy one for me. It’s a short work week and I have plans for the days that are left. And by “plans” I mean I’m taking my motorcycle licensing course. Licensing requirements vary wildly by location, and where I live motorcycle courses are 2 and 1/2 days. That sounds like a lot, but I walk away from it with my full, legit motorcycle license so I think that’s a pretty fair deal. Plus, I get to rip around a parking lot for a few days on an impossibly small bike (the bike isn’t that small, but I’m a huge human) which is going to be a lot of fun.
COVID backstory: my amazing wife knows that buying a motorcycle is literally the only thing on my bucket list. I’m on my third career. I’ve done an active military tour in the middle east after 911. I’ve lived in a lot of places in this vast country, and I’ve worked almost every job you can think of to get by just because I was too busy living to bother planning a career. My bucket list is very short because there’s not that much left to do. But the bike has always eluded me. For my birthday, wife got me the clothes, the helmet, and the licensing course, but COVID set in and my licensing course was postponed. It was rescheduled once. Then twice, and then a third time. And then, last week, my province allowed groups of 10 indoors and 15 outdoors which is exactly the right number of people to run a small course outside in a parking lot. I’ve been waiting for this for a while.
But back to the point of this post: this is all you’re getting from me this week. Every week I write at least two posts. One post for paying subscribers and one for everyone. This week nobody gets anything because I just can’t fit it in. I don’t know most of you personally, but I’m pretty sure all of you can get behind a short work week. Or ripping around on a bike. And you get bonus points if you like both of those things.
For paying subscribers, I have paused your subscriptions for this week. I haven’t tried this feature before, but I’m told that it will add the pause period to your subscription so you aren’t paying for something you’re not getting. Please let me know if the charges you see do not reflect that and I’ll try to fix it.
I’ll be back the week of June 15th. Until then, be kind. A lot of people are having a tough time these days.
Need A Moment
That most be some wife you got there ;)
